A lot of heads will nod on a statement that “DJI Phantom 3 is one of the best drones in the market.” It has everything to offer to drone buffs out there and it is improving its technology quite exponentially. Since DJI Phantom 3 models are increasing, it has gotten quite hard to distinguish which model is worth buying. So far, 4 models have been released in DJI Phantom 3 series.
Phantom 3 Standard
This lowest cost model is best for people on a budget. Since it was released before Phantom 3 Advanced and Professional, there are not much major expensive features in it. It doesn’t shoot 4K video; instead, it shoots 2.7k video.
Nevertheless, the video is great for a First-Person-View (FPV), and the video feed is 720p. There seems to be a slight lacking of the optical flow vision positioning system. It is not a feature, but bear in mind that Phantom is known to stand tall among its competitors with advanced technology.
Another thing that differentiates Phantom 3 Standard is its simple controller design (this design is kind of passed on from iconic Phantom 2). Simple controller design means that there won’t be any dedicated controls for video recording, exposure, etc.
Phantom 3 4K
Most of Phantom 3 4K features are similar to Phantom 3 Standard, but yes, it does record 4k videos. Back in 2016, it was released as the most economical 4K video recording Phantom. As an affordable 4K Phantom, it has the features that can make you fall in love with it.
Apart from the 4K video recording, it has an enhanced controller that is iPad friendly. The vision positioning system makes it more enticing than its predecessors.
Phantom 3 Advanced
Now, it has all the features that Phantom 3 4K has, except for the 4K video recording. The question arises that why should you buy Phantom 3 Advanced? Well, it is because a more advanced technology was deployed in this model – Lightbridge, it gets more dependable video and control signal. The video streaming quality and range of this model is definitely more advanced. The Lightbridge technology enables this model to travel for almost 3.1 miles (5000m).
In other words, Phantom 3 Advanced can travel 5 times farther than Phantom Advanced and 4.1 times than Phantom 3 4K. So it can be said that it has a better video feed than others.
Phantom 3 Professional
The name can suggest a lot about Phantom 3 Professional. It also uses Lightbridge technology like Phantom 3 Advanced, but there are better GPS and high-quality 720p video feed. And hey, it also shoots 4K videos.
Another major difference is its larger 100W charger that enables Phantom 3 Professional to charge in less than an hour. The other models charge in about one hour and thirty minutes. One can say that it is the best drone in the Phantom 3 series, because it is more enhanced, durable, easy to carry and definitely a professional!
