DJI announced a new event on the 28th of November, at the Good Morning America studios in New York City. We were immediately excited and wondered what could it be. Then, not long after the announcement, we saw some leaks that are going around the web.
Ladies and gents, we are getting a DJI OSMO Pocket hand-held gimbal camera.
Before you continue reading the text take a moment to watch DJI’s event trailer to get a great impression of what event we are talking about.
DJI OSMO Pocket
The Body, from the looks of it, will be very small. Probably something like, 4 inches ( 10 cm ).
The Camera, will not feature a 1-inch sensor as we all thought in the beginning, but most likely a 1/2.3 inch sensor, as we could see on DJI drones in the past.
The Gimbal is a 3-axis gimbal, and it will most likely be able to rotate 360 degrees.
The Screen is located on the grip right below the gimbal. It is fairly certain that the screen will be a touch-screen, so you will be able to navigate the UI using your finger and not only buttons.
The Modules Port is located right below the screen. There will be an option to customize the handle with more buttons with the scroll wheel (which you can see in the images below), or other modules that DJI will introduce at their event on November 28.
We can also see a lightning connector in that place in one of the images. That could indicate that there will be an option to use your phone as a larger screen, or it could only be for the charging on the go.
The Led and The Microphone are located further below.
The Record Button and The Mode Button are at the bottom. Mode button will probably be used to change modes and control the gimbal, as we had with the Osmo Mobile 2.
Now let’s talk about some features of the DJI OSMO Pocket.
We already know the camera will be 4k and will probably do only 30fps, unless DJI surprises us. On top of that, from the image below we can see that it will be a wide-angle lens, probably GoPro like.
Furthermore, the main promotional image tells one more very interesting thing.
The DJI OSMO Pocket might be WATERPROOF. Why else would there be a pool in the image?
From the packaging, the image below, we can see that the battery will be 875mAh. That is 1/3 the size of the battery on the Osmo Mobile 2.
Is it fair to say that we are expecting 1/3 of the OM2’s working time? Maybe…
One other interesting fact is that OSMO Pocket will have its own app called DJI MIMO. DJI MIMO app will be available for download on Android and iOS.
As we had the opportunity to witness this before, DJI is probably fully ready to ship your new OSMO Pocket as soon as you order it during the event on the November 28.
I guess this sums up everything that you need to know to make the important decision of buying this awesome new product. If you have any questions, please, ask in the comment section below!
And if you are all set then click the button below and it will lead you directly to the DJI OSMO Pocket page in the store.
Unfortunately, it looks like DJI will not be announcing the long-awaited Phantom 5 this time. It will probably come in the spring of 2019.
Should you be excited about this brand new product that DJI will announce?
YES, of course! Why? Well…
…with DJI OSMO Pocket.
